And a new chapter begins!

Today is the day! Probably one of the biggest and happiest days of my life! I am officially opening up shop as a photographer. This dream has been on my heart for years. When anyone asked me what I would do if I weren’t a copywriter, I’d reply, “Photographer! I would be a photographer.” For twelve years I worked in advertising and if you’ve worked in the biz, then you’ll know how hectic it can be! In the early years, I was able to juggle my hobbies with my work but eventually, I had to park my blog and pack away my guitar. As for my camera, well, I stashed him away in the back of my closet. During the Christmas break, I began doing some serious soul-searching. After many late night chats with Jon and my family, I decided that this year would be different. I would take chances. I would be brave. I would do the thing I’d always wanted to do! So in January, I handed in my notice and began cooking up a plan. After work, I’d head home and work on this website. Hello crash course in CSS! I made client guides. I drafted contracts. I met with professional photographers. I listened to 9000 Youtube tutorials. I shot as often as I could. I attempted to cram two years of learning into the month of Feb! A bit mental, really. So while I still have loads to learn, I am so excited to just begin! My diary is already filling up with bookings which has made me so dang happy. I’ll continue to scribble as a freelance writer but my goal is to grow my photography business into my full-time labour of love! Below is a peek at the branding I worked on with the amazing team at Electrik. They completely got my vibe and designed the logo of my dreams – not an easy feat when your client’s surname is “Setterberg” and they also want to say, “Photography!” I’ll be adding more posts to the Journal, and if you’re keen to follow along, you can find me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
